The next morning we left Anegada very early for a VERY long sail to
Jost Van Dyck. Unfortunately, the wind
was less than it was on our way in, and we were now going
almost entirely downwind instead of reaching
straight across the wind. The sailors of you will
know that this would have meant a much slower speed (~2
knots) and a much less pleasant sail to Jost, so we gave up and
fired up the iron genny (motor) for the day, which
brought us up to ~5 knots. Five hours after setting out, wemade
our way into White Bay on Jost, and dropped
our
hook in about 8 feet of water onto a sandy bottom where it set on the
first try...much more easily
than on our
last trip where I just couldn't set the anchor to save my life, for
some reason. We swam
ashore to the famous
Soggy Dollar Bar (hence the name) and partook of their painkillers,
advertised here
by Vanna...uh, I mean Olivia.
