Last weekend was spent visiting my brother, who's enjoying his
freshman year in college. On
Friday I got to hear his a capella
singing group the Spizzwinks(?)
perform, which was really
great. Here they are checking out the group's new brochures,
which
had just been printed.
Later that night, Zak and I walked down to Wooster Square, so I
could introduce him to one of the top
two pizza places in the world, Sally's Apizza. (The other of the
top two pizza places, Pepe's Pizza, is
down the block.) It was a 15 minute walk followed by a 45 minute
wait to get in, followed by a 45 minute
wait for the ridiculous amount of pizza we ordered for the two of
us...and worth every minute. It was so
good that we were barely able to save any for a midnight
snack...afterwards we waddled back to campus.
While there, I made a pilgrimage to the building which
loomed large in my photographic
past, the Yale Daily News. I hung out with the current photo
editors and saw how much
things have changed since I was there. I also regaled them with
stories of pasting-up
the paper when it actually involved glue and razor blades...they could
hardly believe it.
New Haven wouldn't be New Haven if it didn't rain...and I wasn't
disappointed with the
deluge I received one morning...the lone student studying in the
underground Cross Campus
Library seemed much more snug than any of us foolish enough to be
walking around outside.
